Knowledge Trials Joy

Christian or Not?

You would think that Christians would act like Christians, right?  I mean, the whole idea of a Christian is to be like Jesus Christ.  However, the Bible shows us that people who appear to love God, don't quite treat their brethren the way God wants them to.

Let us examine what the scriptures say about all those who attend church who appear to be Christians.

               Isaiah 66:5

"Hear the word of the LORD, ye that tremble at his word;

Your brethren that hated you, that cast you out for my name’s sake,

said, Let the LORD be glorified: but he shall appear to your joy,

and they shall be ashamed."

Notice here it says that your brethren.  Yes, it means your sibling, however, not your blood family, but, the church family. It's inevitable, the evil spirits will find a foothold with fellow brethren in the church.   Let us read on and see other scriptures that would be comparable to this one.

So here we read where this man who seemed like an enemy, treated him poorly, was, in fact, a man of his equal, going to church together.  Something happened, the man turned on David.  He knew what it felt like to be betrayed.  To have been hurt by someone in the church.  Someone that he trusted.  Day in and day out he was with this person.  Something got a hold of this man.  Something changed him.  Yet, because of David's heart was toward God, he was able to get over it.  But as you read psalm 55, you'll understand it was extremely difficult for him.  A man of his equal.  A BFF? David's Best Friend(Forever?).

In Psalm 55:6 he says:

"And I said, Oh that I had wings like a dove! for then would I fly away, and be at rest."

Sometimes you would like to just run.  Jump on your two feet and run as far as you can, until the pain stops.  Drive, and keep driving until the tears fade.

Church hurt is extremely intense.  And lasts.  You would think that your brethren being spiritual would be able to stop those spirits from leading them, thus they would not attack you.  Wrong.  It happens.  You know it will happen.  What about attacks from jealousy?  Let's read about sibling rivalry:

Genesis 37:4

"And when his brethren saw that their father loved him more than all his brethren,

they hated him, and could not speak peaceably unto him."

Just the pure knowledge that others see the love and devotion you have toward God, they become jealous?  Yep, you can feel it.  You see it, yet you cannot help them, because, by helping them, you, in fact, make things worse.  Jealousy is evil.  They too can have that relationship.  It does takes time and effort. God is worth all of that and more!

What about money?  How many relationships have been broken by money?  By the love of money did Judas betray Jesus.  Where was the love for Jesus?  By the love of money, many don't pay their tithes.  Which, in turn, severs the relationship with Jesus.  Because, how can you have a relationship with someone who steals from you?

Malachi 3:8

"Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me.

But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? in tithes and offerings."

Just about as bad as lying.  How can you trust them?  You can't.  Then, if your brethren are not paying tithes, they wouldn't be led by the Spirit, but led by the spirits.

Matthew 12:49

"And he stretched forth his hand toward his disciples, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren!

For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother."

We are true brethren when our will is to do that of Jesus.  There is no contentions when we are all doing our part.

We are not to say “Well, I go to Pastor's Name church”   Thinking you have arrived; because it appears as if the Lord is blessing the church or because I attend this church and you don’t, therefore you are not really saved.    If you are baptized in the name of Jesus and you are receiving the Holy Ghost on a regular basis, then you are a child of God.  Who are we to judge?  Even amongst ourselves, brethren.  We are to help one another, not cast stones to anyone’s hurt. Don't Judge. Let Jesus do the judging.

Moreover, we are to witness everywhere, not just in our home town.  We are to love at all times, not just a certain sect of people.  Which includes loving everyone in the church.  EVERYONE!  Everyone in THE Church.  Meaning if I go visit another fellow church.  I love everyone there!  I am not better than them, they are not better than me.  We are all trying to make it from Earth to Eternity!  We all want to get away from Satan and his tricks and devices.

The whole point in loving God is to help people, everyone, not just those who we think deserve it.  Not just those who are not saved.  Not just those who are saved.  But everyone, if you have a burden for the lost, don’t lose the ones who have been enlightened.  We should all be sensitive to one another’s needs.  It doesn’t hurt to help everyone.  EVERYONE.

And yet, knowing this, we all fall into a trap.  We are either betrayed or the betrayer.  In the Bible we see that there are contentions in the church.  (how well we know that).  The ones doing the betraying, the ones causing the hurt, the ones who became jealous, it’s the ones who hate the brethren, the ones causing discord among the brethren that are the ones who, are under the influence of Satan’s imps.  Those subtle spirits that try to attach themselves to others.  As Christians become more spiritual, they also are sensitive to the evil spirits as well, and, if they are not wise to Satan's devices, then they can easily fall prey to Satan and be used as a tool. As you walk among people, you will either let God have control, or those evil spirits.  It is those who are strong in the Spirit of God who can withstand those attacks.

If we become heavenly minded, then we will not allow most of these evil spirits to take control and mess up our minds.  It’s hard to get rid of those spirits as humans are emotional and most the spirits will manipulate your emotions and find your weak points.

If you are being attacked in your body, it is most likely a spiritual issue.  Spiritual issues are things like; jealousy, hatred, past hurts unforgiven, etc. . . .

2 Corinthains 11:26

"In journeyings often, in perils of waters, in perils of robbers,

in perils by mine own countrymen, in perils by the heathen,

in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness, in perils in the sea,

in perils among false brethren;"

Proverbs 6:16-19  "These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: {unto…: Heb. of his soul} 17  A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, {A proud…: Heb. Haughty eyes} 18  An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, 19  A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren."

Proverbs 17:4   "A wicked doer giveth heed to false lips; and a liar giveth ear to a naughty tongue."

Psalm 55: 10-16

"Day and night they go about it upon the walls thereof: mischief also and sorrow are in the midst of it. 11 Wickedness is in the midst thereof: deceit and guile depart not from her streets. 12 For it was not an enemy that reproached me; then I could have borne it: neither was it he that hated me that did magnify himself against me; then I would have hid myself from him: 13 But it was thou, a man mine equal, my guide, and mine acquaintance. 14 We took sweet counsel together, and walked unto the house of God in company. 15 Let death seize upon them, and let them go down quick into hell: for wickedness is in their dwellings, and among them. 16 As for me, I will call upon God; and the LORD shall save me."

1 Corinthians 1:9-17

"God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord. 10 Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.

11  For it hath been declared unto me of you, my brethren, by them which are of the house of Chloe, that there are contentions among you. 12  Now this I say, that every one of you saith, I am of Paul; and I of Apollos; and I of Cephas; and I of Christ. 13  Is Christ divided? was Paul crucified for you? or were ye baptized in the name of Paul? 14 I thank God that I baptized none of you, but Crispus and Gaius;

15 Lest any should say that I had baptized in mine own name. 16  And I baptized also the household of Stephanas: besides, I know not whether I baptized any other. 17 For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect."

Matthew 13:24-30

"Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field: 25  But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way. 26  But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also. 27  So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares? 28  He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up? 29  But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them. 30  Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn."

Be a Christian.          Don't be the judge, don't be the spiritual cop,

don't be the jailer, don't be the prosecutor, don't try to be God . . . .

 Just be a Christian
